A Road By Any Other Name: ‘Sienna Christus Drive’ Remains, No Christus Planned

Missouri City has been without a hospital since 2006, when Herman Memorial left the property on Hwy. 6 that is now home to a Lowe’s home improvement store. Soon after, city representatives were talking about an imminent groundbreaking at Sienna Plantation for a Christus Hospital system facility.

It’s not a road to nowhere, but it’s not a road to a Christus hospital, either.

It’s not a road to nowhere, but it’s not a road to a Christus hospital, either.

Sienna even has a street named “Sienna Christus Drive” that runs through the property once expected to become a hospital. The land, however, is now for sale, and Missouri City representatives say the hospital has no plans to build.

City representatives could not provide any information on why the plan fell through.

FortBendNow.com has asked the city if the street name will remain the same, and will provide an update when that information is made available. FortBendNow.com also has an interview planned later this month with the CEO for the Christus Gulf Coast region, and will have an updated story on why the hospital was never built.

I like the idea of just taking the sign down all together so it doesn’t confuse new home buyers. That would be the cheapest route. They can always rename it later and pass the cost then.

  2. Sugarland watch says:

So maybe we should all have a vote on the streets new name.
I submit a vote on street call CVS.
Who is on vote. The polls will open soon.

  3. santhony says:

Yes it is tabor. So maybe we should all have a vote on the streets new name. LOL

  4. b_tabor says:

Isn’t that the same area they put in that TIRZ that impacts the city, county and other participating governmental entities who collect our taxes?

  5. santhony says:

    I like that one sugarlandwatch.

PS Sorry if you don’t like the news megabite. Don’t comment if you don’t like it jerk.

  6. santhony says:

    No offense was taken MoCity.

  7. MEGABITE says:

    Neither do you jerk.

The difference is, I’m not the one constantly complaining about MC and it’s elected officials, now am I?

  9. b_tabor says:

It’s was supposed to be off hwy 6 in Missouri City slap.

  10. MoCity says:

SugarLand – I was responding, in kind, to something santhony had said. That is all. I didn’t think I was being rude about it. If I offended, then certainly let me know.

santhony – yeah, QV will get hit this year. Sadly, most won’t think twice about it. “What? Give the City more money and receive nothing in return? Sure!”

  11. santhony says:

Or so you said, wink, wink…..LOL

  12. santhony says:

    Neither do you jerk.

  13. slapandtickle says:

Where was this hospital to be located?

  14. MEGABITE says:

You don’t get a vote because you don’t live there. 8^P

  15. santhony says:

    I vote for that one SLW. It’s a good name for an empty street or maybe they could call it the CVS street for the nearby pharmacy that relocated for the hospital. . . ;-}

  16. MEGABITE says:

Hey everybody Captain Obvious is here! YAY!!

  17. Sugarland watch says:

MoCity,MEGABITE,b_tabor,FtBendConservative ya”ll must sit in fort of your computer all day.Just look at the posting time.
    No name street is GOOD

  18. MEGABITE says:

YEAH! You should march right down to City Hall and DEMAND they do something about this ASAP!! HOW DARE THEY let this sign sit there!? *rolling eyes*

  19. b_tabor says:

How did they get that best cities designation last year anyway with all this going on and the recession?

  20. santhony says:

I stand corrected. Too bad though for those living in the city limits:

“The S&P report stated: “In our view, the city’s high overlapping tax rates, combined with high overall debt burden from the overlapping school district and many inside-city municipal utility districts (MUDs), preclude a higher rating.”

The report noted that the city’s tax base was expanding and diversifying, and that its tax rate was “stable,” but that the overall tax burden can be “well in excess of $3.70 in some parts of the city.” Chronicle

  21. b_tabor says:

He claims santhony said that sugarlandwatch.

  22. santhony says:

Let’s see how long it takes the city to change the sign. It is misleading as currently situated tabor.

  23. b_tabor says:

Why not just take down the sign so people buying homes don’t think a hospital is still suppose to be coming?

  24. MEGABITE says:

    Practice what you preach. haha

  25. santhony says:

    Will do!

  26. Sugarland watch says:

Boy,after my posting ya”ll was waitimg for come back on the no name street.
MoCity who say you get special treatment.

  27. MEGABITE says:

You can’t seem to do it so what makes you think anyone else will?

  28. b_tabor says:

    IGNORE THE TROLL!

  29. santhony says:

“The residents of QV are not to blame for his crappy judgment, attitude and shady dealings.” I certainly agree with that last statement mocity. Too bad you all are getting the triple whammy this year with the school district increase, MC rate increase and the county appraisal and not much to show for it from your administration except ways to find more fees and fines for garbage cans you might be able to see from the street.

  30. MEGABITE says:

    Still not him.
    coo coo
    coo coo

  31. MoCity says:

    santhony:

“As long as you are… in his neighborhood you get special treatment…

I live in Owens neighborhood, and frankly it gets me nothing in the way of special treatment. It would be a more true statement if you said, ‘… or in his circle of friends or golf buddies.’ The fact that he doesn’t see me on the golf course and the fact that I have regular public run-ins with the man probably doesn’t help my cause. The residents of QV are not to blame for his crappy judgment, attitude and shady dealings.

  32. santhony says:

You would be an expert idiot (charlie/mega/jbb–singular jerk)…..LOL

  33. MoCity says:

  34. santhony says:

Sugarlandwatch–I know let’s name it after the taxpayers in the city limits that footed the bill and we can invite charlie “ftbendconman/wadefishin/johnbernardbooks” and his buddy Allen Owen to not participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony….LOL

What’s really funny is this (since “conman/charlie” has to pay for it):

The S&P report stated: “In our view, the city’s high overlapping tax rates, combined with high overall debt burden from the overlapping school district and many inside-city municipal utility districts (MUDs), preclude a higher rating.”

The report noted that the city’s tax base was expanding and diversifying, and that its tax rate was “stable,” but that the overall tax burden can be “well in excess of $3.70 in some parts of the city.”

PS charlie how do you like paying for another tax rate increase to cover for that special interest TIRZ or bottom land they just bought on your dime and all those “falling property values North of hwy 6″. LOL

  35. MEGABITE says:

It’s a shame, they could specialize in internet stalking, paranoid delusions, and vendettas against officials of
cities they don’t even live in.

  36. FtBendConservative says:

A mental hospital? No wonder calvin is so upset its not coming. OIC

  37. b_tabor says:

Is that like the ‘no name’ bandit?

  38. Sugarland watch says:

How about just call it the NO NAME STREET.
If a hospital goes in I hope its a Mental Hospital.
May be we can help those such as FtBendConservative and the mayor Allen Owens to go and see Psychologist to change there ways and mind.I hope they go the way of the democratic way of thinking.

  39. FtBendConservative says:

how does it feel to be on the outside looking in?

  40. santhony says:

Yes ispy, that is a pretty good assessment of the clique. As long as you are one of the 5-6 big Houston developers on Allen Owens campaign finance reports or in his neighborhood you get special treatment they call “fast track”. Which means if you are a taxpayer you get to pay for their projects and don’t speak up or they will attack you (as the “idiot” does in here constantly).

    See:

“Malone said he is not “an amateur observer of organizational dysfunction.” He suggested that the city engage the services of a consultant to address recent behavior that has locked citizens in a “double bind” when trying to express their concerns, much like dysfunctional behaviors that develop in families.

Malone said he was focusing his comments on the mayor because he was the leader of the organization, but that he was not solely to blame for recent perceptions, and his views pertained to others on council as well.

Malone said that Owen has made significant contributions during his many years of public service, including countless hours of volunteer service, and that “no one person is more responsible for development of the city of Missouri City than Owen.” He said that he did not believe that Owen’s recent public statements were intentional, but the fact remains that perceptions have been shaped by those comments.

“Governments were created to serve people, not people to serve governments,” said Malone.

Malone told the mayor and council that the perception from Owen’s comments in the June 6 council meeting were that “how much money a person contributes determines how you will be treated by city government.” FB Sun (google it)

PS How could it be wrong “ftbendconman/wadefishin/johnbernardbooks (Allen Owen operative)”, unless you’ve been lying to everyone in here about where you live. Now that wouldn’t be a surprise now would it. LOL

  41. FtBendConservative says:

as usual calvin the conman you got it wrong.
as you don’t live in MC why is it your business?

  42. b_tabor says:

Oh, so this is another one of ‘those’ road projects.

  43. I Spy says:

Having dealt with Mo City officials before, I can understand why the hospital decided not to build there. Mo City government (not PD or FD) is the worst group of disorganized, unhelpful, rude trouble makers around, they make it a horrid place for businesses and home owners. The only way a hospital would build there is if it was a psych hospital and who ever had to deal with the city official gets free treatment.

  44. santhony says:

What’s really funny charlie is knowing you paid for this road when it was still in the ETJ of the city, just like the nearby ranch road. You’re right, you are a tax, borrow and spend “liberal” now aren’t “conman” (and Allen Owen supporter)…LOL

  45. MEGABITE says:

They should just leave it like it is. Who cares?

  46. FtBendConservative says:

MC has a road and a golf course that liberals have to pay for, what could be more fair than that?

  47. b_tabor says:

Isn’t it near the Fort Bend Toll Rd? Just call it FB toll rd2!

  48. MEGABITE says:

    haha!

  49. MoCity says:

Lame… Missouri City has a road named after a would-be hospital system and Sugar Land has a Museum of Natural Science. How cool are we? Take that Sugar Land!!

  50. b_tabor says:

Why not just change the name of the street to whatever business is at that site now?
