Texas’ First Kroger Marketplace Debuts In Richmond Friday

A 125,000 sq. ft. Kroger Marketplace featuring furniture, jewelry, home accessories and a clinic will open Friday, Oct. 9 at 8011 W. Grand Parkway at Mason Road in Richmond.  A Kroger of about the same size is scheduled to open a few months later just a few miles away at Rosenberg’s Brazos Town center.kroger

The store includes Ashley Brand Furniture, Fred Meyer Jewelers, home, bath and kitchen accessories and 223 sq. ft. of toys, along with the more traditional grocery store fare, including organic produce and health and beauty products. The store’s “Little Clinic” will be staffed with an advanced registered nurse practitioner and physician’s assistants to treat common illnesses, minor injuries and provide general wellness care.

Store manager Cecilia Sarabia is a 27-year veteran with Kroger who started out as a checker. Store hours are 6 a.m.-1 a.m. daily.

Is that very smart to have two Krogers built so close together? What about the one on highway 90. Will it remain open?

  4. hartie says:

if Kroger is trying to compete with Wal Mart or Target…they are going to have to reduce their prices. Although I guess the general public in the area where this new store has been built won’t care about their inflated prices on most items.
