In a special presentation slated for Thursday, Deputy Gerard Argao with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit will discuss Internet safety tips for parents at Fort Bend County Libraries’ George Memorial Library in Richmond.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.

While the Internet can be a source of information and entertainment, Argao’s presentation will focus on possible Web dangers and how parents can be more vigilant for online predators.

Argao will address safety issues parents should be aware of so they can ensure their children enjoy safe, enjoyable and productive use of the Internet and its resources. He will also discuss the positive uses of social networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace, as well as the risks involved with unsupervised use of those sites.

The program is free and open to the public.

For more information, call the library’s public information office at 281-341-2677.
