St. Laurence Catholic School welcomed Cathy Garcia-Prats recently for a talk on “Spirituality in the Family.” More than 100 people gathered in the school dining hall to listen to the mother of 10 boys speak.

Garcia-Prats is a wife and mother, a former first grade teacher, an author, and a motivational speaker. She and her husband, Joseph A. Garcia-Prats, M.D., have been married 35 years. The couple wrote the bestsellers “Good Families Don’t Just Happen” and “Good Marriages Don’t Just Happen.”
They have been guests on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Gayle King Show, American Journal, Home Life, as well as many local radio and TV talk shows. In 1998, the Garcia-Prats family was honored as “Houston Family of the Year” by Family Service Center at their annual “Celebration of Families” luncheon. They lecture nationally and internationally, individually and as a couple, on parenting, family, marriage, and relationships.
