Missouri City residents Rachel Neycheril and Emily Elackatt have been named the 2009 Knanaya Idols at the Houston Knanaya Catholic Society.

Neycheril won first place in English elocution, classical dance, folk dance and cinematic dance, as well as third place in Sudoku. In addition, she went on to compete in the nation-wide Yuvajanolsavam in Chicago, and received first place in the solo categories of classical dance, folk dance, fusion/semi-classical dance, as well as second place in fancy dress. She also won first place for classical, cinematic and fusion/semi-classical group dances. Neycheril is a student of local dance teacher Sunanda Nair.
Neycheril is a ninth grader at Hightower High School and the daughter of Thomas and Deepa Neycheril from Kumarakom, Kerala . She has a younger sister, Rhea Neycheril.
