Two 18-year-old suspected home burglars were arrested by Missouri City police Tuesday after an observant neighbor gave police enough information to track them down.
Police were responding to a house alarm around 1:45 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 2900 block of Hampton Drive when they received a call from the neighbor of the residence. The neighbor reported the burglary in progress, described the suspect, said he was walking out with a flat screen television and getting into a silver Nissan. The women also gave police the license plate number of the car.
Police discovered the suspect entered the burglarized home through a back window and went out through the front door. They ran the license plate number, which came back as a Nissan matching the neighbor’s description, and went to the address the car was registered to.
By the time police arrived at the registered address of the Nissan, it was about three hours after the burglary occurred. The woman at the residence said the Nissan was her car, but she let someone borrow it. As police were speaking to her, the suspect pulled up in the car, along with a passenger.
The driver, who matched the description given by the neighbor, told police he didn’t want to go to jail, and said he and his passenger burglarized two homes, but it was the passenger who did it. Police recovered the flat screen television from the Hampton Drive home, along with two Coach purses suspected to be stolen from another house.
“It was all based on the fact that we got a great description from a neighbor,” said Captain John Bailey with the Missouri City Police Department. “The citizens out there are our eyes. I think it is important that neighbors watch out for neighbors.”
Police arrested Stafford resident Cody Follis and Fresno resident John Lopez for burglary of a habitation.

I don’t think I will ever understand the mind of a criminal. Why do they feel they can just walk into some strangers home and just take whatever they want?
It is good to have neighbors looking out for neighbors. Kudos to her!
