District Sends Home Letter Informing Clements Parents Of Leadership Change

Clements High School students were sent home with a letter today informing their parents that Kevin Moran is on a “leave of absence from the Fort Bend Independent School District.”

Barbara James will substitute for Moran during his absence. FBISD representatives have not said when, or if, Moran will be back. James is retired from the district, and served as principal of Sugar Land Middle School and assistant principal of Kempner High School.

Dulles High School Principal Mark Foust will “provide additional support” at Clements.

FBISD representatives earlier this week said Moran was still in his role as Clements principal, but staff was informed by Assistant Superintendent Mike McKie that Moran was taking a leave of absence yesterday at what sources called an “emergency meeting.”

Is it possible to get a straight answer from the district?

There are some major problems with FBISD Admin now. Employees are told “if you don’t agree then keep your opinion to yourself.” If you are on a committee and your disagree with the pre-determined admin point of view then you are asked to remove yourself from the committee. People are afraid to speak up. As an employee who must remain anonymous I’m asking all you out there in the community to get more information on what’s going on and please speak up. There’s no reason why the zoning was handled the way it was and the over-crowding on some campuses could be avoided. Question the need for academic academies that will strangle the budget and science building when it wouldn’t meet the needs of most students. We don’t need to pad an overly ambitious superintendent’s resume so he can win some personal award. We need the community to take a stand and raise their concerns to the school board.

    To silencedoesnogood:

Yes, we couldn’t believe the outrageously poor job that Demographic Studies/Special Projects Director Lee Petros has done year after year in his predictions of future school enrollments.

Although a couple of Board members challenged Lee directly, his lack of due diligence, fundamental math errors and erroneous assumptions lead us to believe his demographic studies were likely tailored to support a predetermined position of the zoning committee.

We are now looking into possible conflicts of interest on the zoning committee with respect to some committee members’ recent housing purchases in the zoned areas under study.

Why is none of this surprising given the history of our district leadership.
