Sartartia Middle School eighth-grade students will soon get a glimpse of the real world when they take part in their school’s Career Day Dec. 4. The Career Day will give students the opportunity to learn about various career options from local professionals, examine high school course offerings, and prepare for life beyond high school.
“Prior to high school graduation, students seldom have a clear understanding of their career interests and which fields would suit them best,” said Sartartia Career Day Coordinator, Asha C. Vaidya. “Our Career Day will help expose students to options they may not otherwise learn about outside of this event.”
Other highlights of day-long Career Day will include a Texas Scholars presentation by Neal Adair, who will encourage students to take a more focused approach to coursework in high school and work toward a career that both fits their interests and meets their needs; and a Career Fair at which students can learn about various vocational fields and jobs they can pursue while in high school.
At the conclusion of the event, Farouk Shami will offer the keynote address. He is owner of the Houston-based company Farouk Systems, which employs 2,000 and exports hair and skin care products under the BioSilk, SunGlitz and Cationic Hydration Interlink brands to more than 50 countries worldwide. He will share with students information on how he started his company.

What a great program, but hopefully they will pick careers because they like them too.
