Car Reported Stolen From Los Angeles Found In Missouri City

A car with no license plates in Missouri City turned out to be stolen from Los Angeles, CA, but the driver says he bought it in Georgia.

Police pulled the driver over Wednesday morning after noticing that the Mercedes Benz he was driving had no license plates or temporary paper tags. The driver showed the officer a bill of sale from a company called Exclusive Auto World in Marietta, GA. The driver said he bought the car from the dealer’s office in Georgia, but didn’t know the last name of the seller or his address.

A check of the car’s Vehicle Identification Number indicated that the car was reported stolen from a dealership in Los Angeles. The Missouri City Police Department contacted police in Georgia, who went to the address listed on the bill of sale and said there was no car dealership there.

Police in Los Angeles told Missouri City officers that they have a “large file” on Exclusive Auto Sales concerning alleged crimes that include fraudulent applications.

Missouri City police said the driver of the car “showed no surprise” and was not upset when he was told the car he was driving was stolen. The driver was released and the Mercedes impounded.
