Armed Robber Threatens To Shoot 12-year-old

An armed robber threatened to kill a 12-year-old girl, along with a dog, during a driveway robbery in Greatwood yesterday, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

Sugar Land police detectives are working with deputies to compare the robbery to two recent armed driveway robberies in Sugar Land. A man was robbed in his driveway in Meadow Lakes on Nov. 11, and Sugar Land Mayor James Thompson was robbed in his driveway Nov. 17.

Around 7:30 p.m. yesterday a 53-year-old man and his 12-year-old daughter returned to their home in the 1100 block of Oak Glen Lane when they were approached by a man with a gun rushing up their driveway telling them to “shut up” and asking what was in a grocery bag the man was carrying.

The older victim threw the bad of groceries and his wallet into the driveway, hoping that would keep the robber away from him and his daughter, according to reports.

The robber ordered the victim to get down on the driveway, and he did. The suspect went through the grocery bag and searched the older victim’s pockets, taking his house and car keys.

According to reports, the older victim told the robber that he had thrown his wallet into the driveway, and the suspect hit him in the head and face, telling him to shut up.

During the course of the robbery, the 12-year-old ran and hid behind a fence. After hitting the older victim, the suspect walked through the privacy gate, presumably to get inside the house through the back door but was scared off by a barking dog.

The suspect saw the 12-year-old hiding and threatened to kill her if she didn’t stay quiet and said he would shoot the dog if it didn’t stop barking.

The suspect is described as a black man between the ages of 16 and 25 years old, 6 ft. 2 inches to 6 ft. 4 inches tall, weighing between 185-200 lbs. He was wearing dark colored clothing, and his pants had a single stripe running down the leg.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).

Why would anyone do that raspar?

Apparently the President needs to sit down with this robber and the homeowner and have another beer summit and everything will be better.

    Oh no! Not Greatwood now!!!
Oh well, I guess that’s what you get when you’re sandwiched between Missouri City and RiverPark.”

Actually Missouri City was rated higher than SL on Money Mags list of top 100 places to live in the USA.
New Territory is sandwiched between SL and Riverpark.
With all the crime in SL maybe its time to put up a for sale sign.

Strange commentary, especially in your apparent absence to hearing Sugar Land’s annual police statistics report. The criminal element is everywhere, but everyone is already aware of that; however it is the criminal element preying upon us all; commuting via Houston whose actually the majority that are commiting the majority of the crimes.

I know what you mean southerncomfort. It is sad all this is going on this time of year, but it does seem a little more desperate than it was last year. It would be nice to see crime stoppers put the reward out too before the high profile figure became a target. It seems this is receiving more attention now that the city official became a victim. Why not a reward or increase in the reward when the 12 year old girl that was attacked?

It all becomes too personal, and close to my heart when I hear of Jimmy (Mayor Thompson’s) face to face traumatic encounter with a gun weildong robber! My mom called me, once the word got out ,and it just seemed too surreal; a nightmare. Now a 12 year old & her dog, and Dad? Wow, The negative “H” element that my boys, and I explicitly heard about on then Police Chief Griffith’s agenda report to Sugar Land City Council earlier this year was write on .. Unfortunately!

    How so?

It seems every year at this time we see a spike in these driveway robberies. I remember a few years ago watching as a police copter followed a robbery suspect into his middle class neighborhood after his get-away from a crime into a pretty nice subdivision. I just wonder what it is about this time of year that draws out this element. Maybe our priorities are in the wrong place.

also, it seems to be the same person committing most of these crimes.

  12. conservative1 says:

It’s the type crime. It’s random. Also, this crime is personal. Businesses have security cameras and security individuals and some armed. It can’t get much more personal than a gun being pointed in your face on your own property. Just be glad you have the 2nd Amendment. This is one of the reasons.

  13. MoCity says:

I don’t think there has been such a sharp increase in crime, as much as a sharp increase in the type of crime.

  14. FtBendConservative says:

I find it hard to believe that there has been such a sharp increase in crime in Ft Bend.

    Maybe a punk thug wave.

  17. MoCity says:

Does this count as a Fort Bend Crime wave? Seems like we are seeing a lot of these driveway robberies/assaults.

  18. conservative1 says:

There are too many of my fellow Fort Bend residents that will not be so kind to these amatuers if it happens the them. I know the odds are very remote it will happen to me but it looks like its time to very aware of surroundings, much more than before.

  19. MEGABITE says:

I had a campfire out on my driveway with the neighbors last night. We all were prepared *wink wink*
