The annual lighting of the gazebo at Rosenberg City Hall, 2110 Fourth Street, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2. The public is encouraged to share in the event and help officially kick-off Rosenberg’s holiday season.
Mayor Joe Gurecky will serve as the official Master of Ceremonies. Rosenberg’s First United Methodist Church Children’s Choir, under the direction of Elizabeth Fairfield, will perform traditional holiday carols for the guests. Santa will be welcomed to the celebration with a sing-a-long of Here Comes Santa Claus and the evening will culminate with the illumination of the City Hall gazebo, a cherished tradition in Rosenberg. Refreshments will be served from 6:30 – 7 p.m.
Children are invited to color holiday pictures and visit with Santa immediately following the ceremony. Parents are encouraged to bring their camera for photographs of their children with Santa Claus.

I remember attending the tree lighting last year in Sugar Land, but a gazebo lighting? That’s different.
Are they going to be taking part in traditional Jewish festivities? Perhaps Kwanzaa ones or atheist activities? No? Then it is a freaking Christmas Celebration.
Christmas is called Christmas for a reason… it wasn’t happenstance. ‘Oh – look at that! I never realized the word Christ was in Christmas… how funny.’
For once, I agree with you!
What the heck is a ‘holiday carol’?? They’re CHRISTMAS carols!
“Holiday season”? I have decided to skip events, stores, parades, and any other activity that uses this term over any reference to “Christmas”. I do wish all these PC events would not have ever taken Christ out of Christmas.
After all, He is the reason for the season.
Please don’t respond with hatred of me, or my belief. I deserve respect also. MERRY CHRISTMAS
This should be a great deal of fun!
