Fort Bend County Health & Human Services has scheduled H1N1 vaccination clinics for priority groups in Rosenberg and Stafford.
The clinics will be held from 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1-8 p.m. Nov. 30 at the County Annex – Rosenberg, 4520 Reading Rd., and from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-8 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Stafford Civic Center, 1415 Constitution.
More clinics are scheduled, but are subject to cancellation depending on vaccine availability. For more clinic dates and locations, go to http://www.fortbendcountyhhs.com/.
Limited supplies of vaccine have led to a need to prioritize who can receive the available H1N1 vaccine and target groups of people considered at high risk of developing severe complications from the disease. As vaccine becomes more plentiful, the target groups will be expanded until ultimately everyone who wishes to receive the vaccine can get it, according to Fort Bend County Health and Human Services officials.
At this time, the target populations are as follows:
-
Pregnant women
-
Household contacts of children younger than 6 months of age.
-
Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel who provide direct patient care
-
Children from 6 months through 4 years of age
-
People 5 years through 64 years of age with health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza
