Constable’s Office Distributes Almost 500 Bicycles From Anonymous Donor

The Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office conducted their annual Christmas gift distribution last Tuesday at the Academy store at Hwy 99 and I10. Constable Rob Cook’s office is the facilitator of an annual donation from an anonymous donor of hundreds of bicycles, athletic equipment and other various toys. Cook has been overseeing the distribution of these gifts to charitable organizations and groups in need for more than 15 years.

This year, 490 bicycles, 250 soccer balls, 250 footballs and 100 basketballs were distributed, along with countless board games, makeup kits and other various items. The organizations gifts were distributed to include Katy Christian Ministries in Katy, The Tate Center in Kendelton, Faith United Methodist Church on FM 359 and Pecan Grove Fire Department, both located in Richmond.

Thanks for the explanation M-Bite, I remember all the hoop- la at the Sheriff’s Office, channel 13,…bla,bla,bla, and now with this gesture the writer makes reference to not following State law, then the elected officials are involved and you end the comment with “I hope this was followed with appropriate rules and regs”.

Like the last one wasn’t? ?

Dude, it’s Christmas, a time to give!

What are you talking about? It looks like those posting here are happy that the bikes were donated.

It does not matter, “No good deed goes unpunished!”

See, the common folk are happy and feel good inside when a nice gesture like this happens. Even at the Sheriff’s Office, what a nice gesture for a person to do.

    But!

Oh No! there are a very few that are jealous, envious and downright hateful for occurances like this, it’s just too bad they are the ones with the loudest mouths! or have thier own means to print it,…..I will pray for them!

This is a nice gift. It reminds me a great deal of that large financial donation made to the patrol officers last year through the sheriff that stirred up so much controversy. Apparently it was a big out of state donor that instead of sending it through the counties official process was sent directly to the elected sheriff. According to the report, it apparently violated state law for financial contributions and how they should be handled. It was interesting watching as the county attorney, district attorney and the commissioners court all debated how it should have been handled and then decided it was ok and didn’t violate state law as long as the elected official (sheriff) didn’t disclose the donors name. I also remember there was a controversy around why only certain FBCSO personnel were receiving the bulk of the money.

Let’s hope this one was all handled following appropriate rules and regs, because it is a worthy gift to the needy!

And just like that – the last two posts have disappeared.

On another note, the bicycles alone must have cost at least $50,000… pretty impressive and awe inspiring. I secretly wish I could donate a huge chunk of change to a charity without taking credit for it – just to do it. Perhaps one day.

WOW! That’s awesome! What’s amazing is the donor chose to remain anonymous rather than bask in the spotlight. Very commendable to say the least!
