The Rosenberg Development Corporation recently completed the installation of landscaping along U.S. Highway 59 at the intersections of State Highway 36 and F.M. 2218. Beds of double knock-out roses and dwarf oleanders, along with irrigation systems, were installed at each corner of the intersections. Design and installation of the project was completed by GreenScape Associates, a Rosenberg-based business.

This project is part of a larger effort by the RDC to enhance Rosenberg’s community image and make Rosenberg more attractive to potential businesses and their clients through the improvement and maintenance of public open spaces.
The RDC was established through public referendum in 1995 and is allocated one-half cent of the city’s sales tax proceeds. These funds may then be invested in projects that promote or develop new or expanding business, create jobs, and improve the quality of life in the community.
The RDC Board of Directors meets on the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Rosenberg Civic Center. The public is encouraged to attend these meetings to learn more about the corporation’s efforts. For more information, visit www.rosenbergecodev.com or call 832-595-3330.

To jaghund and all other misinformed Rosenberg residents: the RDC strictly adhered to the City’s (and State’s) purchasing and bidding policies when they went out to bid for this important and timely project. In regards to who is paying for this project: As approved by Rosenberg voters 14 years ago, the RDC is allocated a VERY small percentage of the SALES TAXES collected in the City of Rosenberg. The RDC carefully utilizes those funds to pay for projects that benefit/promote/develop business, jobs, and quality of life projects — including image projects like this one and recreational development. Not one single dime comes out of your pockets for the projects. Jughund, it would serve you well to attend any and all RDC meetings to learn what they are doing for YOU and the City — without dipping into your pocketbook. Get informed.
To acolddaveinhell re: enhancing Rosenberg’s image: I hear what you’re saying and couldn’t agree more; however, they have to start somewhere and improving the entryways into the City is a good place to start. Other initiatives – including those that influence perception – will follow. It will take some time.

I think it’s going to take more than some rose bushes and oleanders to enhance Rosenberg’s image..I’m just sayin’..

These plants should be pretty when they bloom in the spring.

What evidence do you have to suggest they didn’t follow the correct procedures in the bidding? Any at all?

I wonder if these development corporations have to follow city and state code on bidding and awarding of contracts? I wonder how much we forked out for this?

This is good for Fort Bend. Glad to see that a local guy got the contract.
