A car burglar made his job a little easier yesterday by stealing the car keys of a man working out at LA Fitness at 5402 Hwy. 6.
According to reports, the suspect went into the locker room of the gym sometime between 1:40 p.m. and 2:50 p.m., found an open locker and took the set of car keys that were inside. He then went out to the parking lot and clicked the alarm button to locate the car.
The victim returned to his locker, grabbed his belongings, and went out to his car, not realizing he didn’t have his keys. He searched the ground around his car and the inside of the gym before calling his wife to bring an extra key to him.
Once he was inside his car, he realized his cell phone and wallet were missing from the vehicle. By the time he called to cancel his credit cards, the suspect had used one at three different Best Buy locations.
Missouri City police recommend that keys and other personal belongings be kept in a locker with a lock.

How could you be so stupid in leaving your keys in an open locker. You just can’t trust anybody these days.

Wow, how did the criminal pick the lock on the locker? On a side note, anyone can walk into those places, just act like you know what you are doing.

There’s one on Highway 6 and Bissonnet but I don’t think that is the one in this story.

Yes – I believe so. I don’t know of another LA Fitness off Hwy 6 in Fort Bend.

Isn’t this the one right in front of Riverstone in Missouri City?

They should be able to catch this guy pretty quickly.
LA Fitness makes you scan your key card in before entering and to my knowledge, they have video cameras at the entrances.

He’s lucky the car was still there!
