Todd Ericson, a mathematics teacher at Clements High School, has been selected as a winner of the 2009 Edyth May Sliffe Award for Distinguished High School Mathematics Teaching. Presented by the Mathematical Association of America, this award honors the teachers who contribute greatly to the success of the highest scoring teams on the American Mathematics Contest 12.

Ericson
Ericson is one of 22 winners selected from more than 4,000 high schools in the United States and Canada for this international recognition. He was nominated by Clements High School students Dennis Mau, Aaron Chen and Kevin Chen. They were invited to submit nominations because the Clements team was among the 60 highest scoring teams on the AMC 12.
As a winner, Ericson receives a $650 cash award, a letter of recognition, a certificate from the MAA, a Sliffe Award Winner pin, a free one-year complimentary Institutional membership in the MAA for Clements, 20 subscriptions to Math Horizon for distribution to students, a year’s membership in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and recognition in national and regional professional publications.
