Girl Scout Cookies Coming In January

Daisies through Ambassador Girl Scouts sell Girl Scout Cookies once a year, and will begin their 2010 fundraising effort Jan. 9. Sales will run through March 28.

According to program representatives, the cookie sales subsidize programs and activities while also teaching Girl Scouts life skills such as learning to set goals, handling money responsibly, greeting the public and answering questions, and following through with a obligation.

As the girls advance through different program grade levels in Girl Scouts, they are challenged to develop new skill sets and meet goals in the Cookie Program Activity. At $3.50 per box, all proceeds from cookies stay local and benefit local Girl Scouts.

In February, the San Jacinto’s Cookie Finder database at http://www.gssjc.org/  can be used to locate booth sales in specific neighborhoods.

Scouts of San Jacinto and the Rainbow Stars Service Unit serve nearly 700 registered girls and adults in New Territory- Sugar Land, Texas.  Girl Scouts is a United Way Agency.  Those interested in joining Girl Scouting in New Territory should contact Lisa Rickert at lisa@rickert.com.
