Swimming Pool Fixed, New Owner Ready To Purchase Property At 2123 South Fountain Valley Drive

Missouri City’s two-year battle with the owners of the property at 2123 South Fountain Valley Drive is over, the house foreclosed on and a new owner is ready to purchase the property once the city repeals the order requiring the repair or demolition of the property’s swimming pool.

According to staff, there is a record dating back to 2007 of code violations on the property.

The city repaired a fence on the property last year, but staff said that the pool represented a danger to pets and children. The owners – one listed as having a Sugar Land address and one listed as living in Houston – did not respond to citations issued by the city in April and July of last year, and were told in September they had 30 days to take care of the problem or the city would demolish the pool and the cost would be added as a lien on the property.

The home was foreclosed on after the September warning was sent, and the lending institution hired a management company that worked with the city to bring the pool and fence into compliance. Now that a buyer has been found, the order to repair needs to be repealed for the title to be clear.

Council will vote on the issue at tonight’s meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight, Jan. 19, at City Hall Council Chambers, 1522 Texas Parkway.
