Five LCISD Schools To Receive Distinguished Performance Awards

Five Lamar Consolidated Independent School District elementary schools will receive Distinguished Performance Awards this spring from the Texas Education Agency’s Division of No Child Left Behind Coordination. The schools will be honored by the Region IV Service Center.

Ray Elementary Principal Ben Perez, Velasquez Principal Beth Dow, Pink Elementary Principal Chandra Woods, Long Elementary Principal Jill Nehls and Bowie Elementary Principal Rick Amick lead Lamar CISD's Distinguished Performance Schools.

   The five schools are:

·         Bowie Elementary, led by Principal Rick Amick;

·         Long Elementary, led by Principal Jill Nehls;

·         Pink Elementary, led by Principal Chandra Woods;

·         Ray Elementary, led by Principal Ben Perez; and

·         Velasquez Elementary, led by Principal Beth Dow.

   

Distinguished Performance Schools have to be a Title I — Part A School, achieved Adequate Yearly Progress in 2008 and 2009, and rated Exemplary in 2009, Exemplary or Recognized in 2008 and Exemplary or Recognized in 2007.
