The City of Rosenberg Office of Emergency Management has announced the launch of its new Public Information Emergency Response website, Rosenberg Responds. The site, available at www.RosenbergResponds.com, is designed to give residents and interested community members the opportunity to “stay informed, stay prepared, and stay involved,” according to city representatives.
The PIER site was funded by a Houston Urban Area Security Initiative grant coordinated through the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management. Rosenberg is one of 30 different governmental entities in Fort Bend County awarded funds to host their own PIER sites. The site will serve as a primary source of public information during any disaster affecting the city. It will operate as a secure source of information during emergencies, providing timely information about the city’s response and recovery efforts.
Residents and businesses can utilize the tips and strategies on the site to prepare homes, businesses and families for emergency situations including hurricanes. Rosenberg Responds also provides links to other emergency management agencies, click-of-the-button weather and traffic updates specific to Rosenberg, emergency alerts, and information about handling special care needs or pets during disasters.
The site also has a built-in feature that allows people to register for news releases and emergency notifications via e-mail alerts, with the capability of expanding emergency alerts to text-message notification in the future.
