I agree it would be nice to get people into office that will look out for the electorate and not feed the machine, especially during these tough economic times. We need all our nickels and dimes!

"Heck, we need some common folks in office. People that feel it, like the rest of us, when taxes are raised."

Yes, common folks that are not in the development game and feeding our taxes and bond monies to this bunch would be nice and a much larger turn-out from all the neighborhoods with an educated voice to expose the cronyism.

'With the truth on our side, there is never a reason to hide!'

I like that - sounds like a good (although lengthy) battle cry. Of course, my favorite one was 'SPOOOOOON!' from the cartoon/comic book The Tick.

Nguyen, Wyatt, and Owen are best for Missouri City...and I don't just believe this...I know it.

...and no matter how many anonymous attacks may be hurled at them via forums...I believe voters are savvy enough to question anonymous attacks...Especially in that when you have the truth on your side, there is never any reason to hide.

I agree - I would love to see some non-politician types run.

What ever happened to the local hardware shop owner running to make a difference in his or her neighborhood? You know the type - a person without a lick of experience in politics, but with common sense, ethics, and values. Now days, the prerequisites for a community to take you seriously is if you have been in politics for your whole life, are highly educated, well connected, and have spare money to spend on campaigns.

Heck, we need some common folks in office. People that feel it, like the rest of us, when taxes are raised. People that want to take their family out on the weekend and spend their money in our their own town - not Houston or Sugar Land because all Missouri City has to offer are strip centers on every corner. People who are tired of the political system, tired of being looked down upon by politicians, and tired of having to get a 'mob' together just to be taken seriously by Council.

Ugh... let me tell you how I really feel. Ha!

I think mcty that not being in the clique or having the wrong type of political "experience" as many of our local politicians and some wannabees seem to have would be a bonus. I would love to see someone without the normal affiliations running for office and bringing her/his campaign directly to the people. We have too many already cut from the industry template and produced willy nilly for our consumption as if we were at the mall selecting a pair of socks and acting like it really doesn't matter which one we pick. It is time to jump outside the failed paradigm of corruption (you know, the 'lets make a deal' bunch).

What about people with no record? Frankly, there are a few people out there that would like to 'make a difference' and run for office, but have little experience at all - just plain old common sense. Does common sense trump political experience?

7&8 wadefishin, That another reason to look an bring in better candidates with good or better record back grounds, to replace any from your list! We voters will support any new good record candidates, but will prohibit candidates with bad record back grounds like Ronald Reynolds.

Well, if he is anything like your hero, he will make sure the tax dollars get to the right companies in that "fast track" process they have set-up for the best contributors. Not to mention special abatements, taxing zones and other budget busting and property tax increasing deals. But anytime you tell us to support someone wf, you can make a safe bet that you lost quite a few votes for your endorsement.

It is no accident that the current retail/development mayor is backing this candidate. Check Owens campaign finance reports and see why so often while the community sleeps we elect those that are in "the biz" as patriot mentions above and then stop questioning why your taxes go up every year. Start electing average citizens, not in "the biz", and you may see this stop, but until then enjoy the ride. It is happening at all levels of government (school district, cities and county) and it is all about your bonds and tax dollars. What an industry politics has developed into.

It is one thing to be business friendly if you are using those businesses to off-set resident taxes, improve conditions of a community or area, or creating a business friendly infrastructure.

It is something completely different to be business friendly in order to see personal and professional gains. I have seen it posted on here once or twice that Mr. Nguyen has a vested interest in Missouri City, from a development standpoint. He may have a hard time distancing himself from that perception - if in fact, he wants to.
