Why are you defending Mr. Reynolds? I've read where you defended the actions on this same case taken by Charlie Howard (R) and co-authored by Olivo. Aren't you being 'disingenous' by flipping sides on this issue during a campaign?

All you have to do is look at the big picture. A certain few have assailed MC council repeatedly and constantly about the purchase of the QVGC. To the point itshighly contentious behavior. But!!!! and I mean but when I brought up fact that a State Rep who wrote the bill that allowed MC to use eminent domain that same few defended Rep Olivo to point of calling her a saint. One might say they're being disingenuous.

I say they are not only being disingenuous and contentious they are whats known highly partisan. A trait one often observes from the left.

But then again as I've said "its all they've got".

'Sounds like the propaganda that was coming out of the mayors office at the time mcty.'

I had a pastor that would say, if you can't say Amen, you'd better say ouch. So... Ouch!

Quite honestly, you might be right. I did vote for the incumbents last mayoral election. Some of that, I am sure was due to neighborhood scuttlebutt, but some of it was based on what I formulated myself.

I realize she wasn't part of the election cycle that we are talking about, but I can say that I have been pretty pleased with councilwoman Gary. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders. I don't think she has accomplished much in her short time in the big chair, but some of that can be attributed to the fact that she is not part of the good ol' boy network.

Owen & Wyatt have stayed in office WAY too long, they need to GO home, retire from public life and play GOLF!!

And all I ask as a MC resident are 2 simple things:

1. Have ALL the city STREET LIGHTS actually ON & WORKING - EVERY DAY - including the lights (all 2? maybe) at our major INTERSECTIONS - so MC citizens can SEE safely to drive after DARK!

If it weren't for all the business lighting in MC, our streets would be even worse than they are

2) Could SOMEONE with the City PLEASE get all the traffic signals SYNCHRONIZED on Cartwright? We have asked about this repeatedly but nothing has improved. Terrible traffic management, have to stop at every single light, no matter what speed you drive ... does this bother anyone else here ??

Sounds like the propaganda that was coming out of the mayors office at the time mcty. Two seats were turned and both of those candidates and several that got very close during some of those races all had very proactive plans and none of them were saying sell off the course. That was spin coming from Owen and his clan on council. If you look at the money and how they use their minion masters it is typical. We see it now in many communities. They like to launch these propaganda campaigns at the polls, where they can't be refuted or use "key communicators" from within the neighborhoods, sometimes illegally soliciting funds. We've seen HOA boards engage in such activities too against their charters. As long as people are that gullible there isn't much you can do about it and unless you have a campaign with very deep pockets but that usually means strings attached and that solves nothing and only perpetuates the problem. When will the public regain trust of its elected officials? When those strings are cut and more from the general public get involved and break the backs of pol. machines that keep recreating themselves to keep the public flow of your tax dollars and bond debt going to reduce their business risk on our backs. It happens in Washington and what most don't accept is that it is going on right here in their own backyards.

'...but you have to understand that for some its all they have.'

You are 100% right. I think we saw a lot of this two years ago. The people that ran against the incumbents were not bad people, but I personally got the feeling that they were running more out of 'spite' than out of 'let's go improve our City.' Again, just my personal feeling on the matter.

"For instance, City workers shouldn’t be working on the Golf Course, their labor is too expensive, that should be contracted out"...
or use city workers that are under utilized getting more production out of workers and farm the other work out to contractors, saving money.....wait that how its done now.

I agree with MoCity about individual voters being the leaders. The incumbent politicians would like to divide the City with QV against everyone else so that they can be sure to be elected with the QV vote but it just isn't so. The Golf Course now or will soon belong to the entire City and everyone realizes that. I do think the entire City needs to work out a plan to see that its operations are supervised better. For instance, City workers shouldn't be working on the Golf Course, their labor is too expensive, that should be contracted out. We should take the City Council out of the equation in terms of management. They've shown conclusively they can't supervise it and make a profit. What this City Council hasn't done is get input from all citizens as to the best way to get the Course profitable. For that they should be held accountable.

"Taxes have gone up every year over the last 5 and the rates increased 3 times too"

once again not true while my appraised value has gone up by 7%, my taxes in 2006 & 7 went down over the 2005 level, just like the rate did.

It is always a shock when a taxpayer opens his eyes to being used like firewood to warm the fat bums of the development industry. Vote out this abusive and incestuous development stranglehold. Vote OUT Owen, Wyatt, and Nguyen.

"I have made mention of this before. A candidate for mayor or council cannot eliminate or alienate QV (or any other section of community) from the mix. The voters are strong in Quail Valley. For any of you who are thinking about running, the attack on Quail Valley doesn’t work. We have seen that and it does not work. We all realize that many of the council folks (and mayor) live in QV - get over it. If a candidate is truly just, it will not matter from which community they reside."

The problem mocity is that the community has been dominated by the 2000 solid votes from the old QVGC bunch for so long by playing the divide and conquer game. If you review the county elections data you will see this continues to hold true. Most of the precincts outside of QV went to the opponents last cycle except the QV ones, which as you said, believed the line they were being fed by the Owen crowd and the communications office at the city and one of the major development companies that backs his re-elections on a regular basis. You will hear from their cronies on these threads (as we often do). They are a good indicator of who not to vote for and where the out-of-town special interest funding is coming from. They will hire marketing companies, political consultants galore, poll workers and out spend you 3,4 and 5 to 1, but that spending only produces modest numbers and in recent years turned two seats against their clan.

Yes it is important to be fair to all the city, but when was the QV Fund board ever fair with the rest of the city. It has always been about them. I can understand the back-lash that comes from other city subdivisions but if they want fairness then they need to get more new blood on that council and take it away from the Houston development community that practically owns it and uses the sheeple. Taxes have gone up every year over the last 5 and the rates increased 3 times too. They are feeding a growing bear.

'Those residents living around the Exec 9, etc. have been waiting over a year for those repairs to be made.'

This is the modus operandi (m.o.) of this administration. They put things on the back burner until just before an election and then suddenly things start moving. The 'if you don't vote us back in, these projects will go away' scare tactic comes into play. During the last mayoral election, the word was put out that if the citizens of QV didn't vote the mayor and his peeps back in, their opponents would likely scrap the entire project. Of course, no one wants to see their community fall into disarray, their property values drop, or something that they bought into sudden pull out from under them. So, the citizens turned out in great numbers to vote the current administration back in.

I have made mention of this before. A candidate for mayor or council cannot eliminate or alienate QV (or any other section of community) from the mix. The voters are strong in Quail Valley. For any of you who are thinking about running, the attack on Quail Valley doesn't work. We have seen that and it does not work. We all realize that many of the council folks (and mayor) live in QV - get over it. If a candidate is truly just, it will not matter from which community they reside.

'Obama is a good example of why younger inexperienced candidates do not make good leaders.'

I have never understood why we call elected officials leaders. They aren't leaders - we the people are. If this country is truly by the people, for the people, then the leaders are us - the common folk, the every day Joe. The sooner our elected officials realize that, the better off this country will be.

You know the real tragedy about this upcoming election is how everything regarding QV and Exec 9 park repairs was put on hold so the Mayor and Wyatt could get maximum political advantage out of their recent announcement to devote bond funds to those same park repairs. Those residents living around the Exec 9, etc. have been waiting over a year for those repairs to be made. The announcement about the tax increase (caused by the new bond issue) was made about six to nine months ago, right? Why was the news about the use of the bond issue monies held up? So it goes in MoCity....

Owen and Wyatt need to get out of the sandbox and let someone else play. They certainly are "old cronies" no matter what their ages.
They are also bullies and should be banned from the playground. I am dang sick of having my lunch money stolen. How about you?
