Fort Bend Independent School District Board of Trustees President Bob Broxson has announced that he will not run for re-election, and Sugar Land resident Jim Rice has filed to run for his Position 3 seat. Broxson was elected in 2007.
“Over the past several months I have been working through a decision-making process regarding my personal life and whether I should seek re-election,” Broxson told the board. “One thing is certain, despite all of the difficulties this board has had to face over the past three years; I have loved every minute of it. I have enjoyed interacting with all of the Board members with which I have had the privilege to serve, and I have loved serving this community and all of the students and staff.”
Board Secretary David Reitz, elected to Position 7 in 2007, has filed for re-election. Police Sergeant Jim Babb, a Missouri City resident, has filed to run against him.
The last day to file for the two open positions is March 8. Early voting runs April 26 through May 4. The election will take place May 8, with the polls open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Good point factually. Many seem to like to use these seats as jumping off points like Smelly did. Notice how many are jumping ship as the budget deficit soars.
yes one can quit after one term especially when dealing with Ft Bend’s version of Amy Bishop. Not a hard decision atall….
Do you quit what you love, after only one term????
Go Bab! It’s great to see someone with public service stepping up!
Well if people like to go from a vendor feeder to an actual school district vendor serving on the board then Rice is your man. Nothing like having the fox in the hen house and feeding on all the chickens…lol
