Senior high school students of the Fort Bend Independent School District have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship funded by a Houston-based asset management firms. The $10,000 scholarship is open to a deserving student interested in business, economics, finance, investments or accounting. The application deadline is March 25.
“We want to help a worthy student who is focused on a career and works hard,” said John Payne, CFP, president of Houston Asset Management. “While the scholarship provides financial support, the candidate also has the opportunity to get hands-on experience through summer internships with our firm.”
The scholarship is made possible through donations from the firm and its clients.
“Funded in partnership with our clients who participate in the selection process, the $10,000 scholarship provides both a financial and confidence boost to the candidate,” said Bob Frater, CFP,CEO of Houston Asset Management. “While tuition and fees at public four-year colleges and universities have risen, the unemployment rate for individuals with a bachelor’s degree or higher is about half the rate for high school graduates. A college education is always a good investment.”
The scholarship application includes one essay. Three finalists will be selected to interview with the scholarship committee. For more information, contact a FBISD career counselor.

It certainly does. Unfortunately not all the high school counselors were sent information to pass on to the seniors.
This sounds like a great opportunity for students!
