A man originally thought to be a “person of interest” in a March 4 murder in Missouri City has been cleared as a suspect, according to police.

The man was arrested the day of the murder on unrelated narcotics violations, and is still in jail. Police are pursuing several leads in the investigation, but have no suspect at this time.

The murder occurred around 12:45 a.m. at 7806 Saintes Circle. The victim, 30-year-old Herman Robert, was sitting with his girlfriend on the couch watching television when a masked man dressed in black came in through an unlocked living room window and started shooting.

Roberts was shot, possibly twice, and the woman was not injured. After Roberts was shot, he attempted to get his own weapon, but collapsed and died of his injuries.

As officers responded to the call, which was originally an alarm call but upgraded to a shooting as officers were on their way, they found the former “person of interest,” who matched the description of the shooter.
