Burton Elementary Student Breaks National Track Records

Howard Fields, a fifth-grade student at Burton Elementary School and member of the Houston Visions Track and Field Club, set new track records at the 2010 AAU Indoor National Junior Olympic Championship, held recently at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois.

He won the 55-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter races and set new records of 26.69 in the 200-meter race and 100.54 in the 400-meter race. Fields has also been nominated for the AAU James E. Sullivan award, which recognizes outstanding amateur athletes in the United States.
