Early Voting Begins Monday

Early voting for the April 13 runoff elections begins on April 5 in Fort Bend County.  Fifteen early voting sites will be open during the week-long period.  Early voting sites are scattered throughout the county and are near to the major commuter routes used by Fort Bend County residents. The early voting period ends on April 9.

A county-wide runoff is being held for three contests in the Republican Party, including district attorney, with incumbent John Healey facing challenger Nina Schaefer.  Runoffs are being held in Precinct One for both Republican and Democratic Parties for Justice of the Peace, and a Democratic contest is also on the ballot for Congress in the 14th District.  A runoff for Precinct Chair of the Democratic Party is also being held in Precinct 3113.

Eligible voters of Fort Bend County may vote at any of the 15 early voting sites and, unlike absentee voting by mail, no reason need be given for voting early.

If a voter cast a ballot in the March 2, Primary Election then that voter can only vote in the runoff of the same party on April 13.  Voters who did not participate in the Primary may also vote.  The 106 Election Day polling places used in March will be reduced to 71 for the runoff.  To avoid confusion about where to vote on election day, the Fort Bend Office of Election Administration encourages voting early.

Identification is required in order to vote.  Voters should be prepared to show their voter registration certificate or Texas Driver’s license, or other form of ID before voting.

A complete list of the county’s Early Voting sites may be found at the county’s election website, http://www.fortbendvotes.org/.  Other election information, including Election Day polling places and sample ballots, is also available on line.

Don’t forget to early vote in the district attorneys run-off. 53% voted against the incumbent John Healey and most of the local law enforcement agencies are not backing him this time. Ask yourself why and then do a thorough search on him and his ever increasing budget and the time it takes them to get cases to trail. Over 40%+ increase in his budget last year alone……it’s time for a new DA. Get more by clicking the ad running on the right and learn why so many are asking for him to resign:
