Passenger Life Flighted After Car Hits Parked 18-Wheeler

Twenty-nine-year-old Fresno resident Jose Ibarra was Life Flighted for immediate medical care after the car he was riding in rammed into a parked 18-wheeler in Rosenberg Sunday.

According to police, 31-year-old Houston resident Stephanie Saldua was driving in the 4700 block of Reading Rd. around 9:30 a.m. when she ran her 2002 Chevrolet Impala into the back of a parked 18-wheeler.  

Saldua told police the sun was in her eyes and while she was moving the visor, CDs fell and distracted her. Ibarra was in the front seat. Backseat passenger Amanda Saldua, a 29-year-old Houston resident was taken to Oak Bend Medical Center where she was seen in the emergency room and released.

The 18-wheeler was issued a citation for violating a City Ordinance by parking on a city street. Stephanie Saldua was issued a citation for failure to control speed and another for driving without insurance.
