Volunteer Fort Bend is looking for people who are interested in helping local civic and nonprofit organizations.
Here are some current needs:
Administrative assistance
Apply your organizational skills in a local housing program designed to enable low-income families to achieve the American dream of home ownership. Your administrative know-how will be put to good use at a Stafford office when you assist with copying, data entry, and filing. Pick a time slot that suits your schedule on any weekday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and help others to help themselves through participation in this empowering program.
Children First
Protect and defend the rights and well being of child abuse victims. An agency based in Fort Bend County that works directly with the courts has many key volunteer assignments available. Some volunteers research placements for children who have been removed from their homes; others review foster care cases and make recommendations for permanent placement; still others work with families in which abuse has occurred.
Make a difference
English language tutors are needed to help Fort Bend residents new to our country achieve literacy. Eager adult students from around the world are waiting to learn English from dedicated tutors who receive training from a Sugar Land educational agency. Volunteer’s ages 18 or older that are interested in becoming tutors are encouraged to register for the next tutor training session.
