MoCity Council: Owen, Wyatt, Nguyen

Longtime Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen has kept his seat, beating out challenger Cynthia Lenton-Gary with 58 percent of the votes to Lenton-Gary’s 42 percent.

Lenton Gary forfeited her District B council seat to run against Owen. Council will now have to name a replacement.

At-large Position 1 incumbent Jerry Wyatt defeated challenger Anthony Maroulis, garnering 65 percent of the votes to Maroulis’s 35 percent.

Danny Nguyen, one of four on the ballot to replace longtime At-large Position 2 Councilman Buddy Jimerson, won the seat with 55 percent of the votes cast. He was trailed by City Planner Yolanda Ford with 28 percent of the votes, Kevin Tunstall with 14 percent, and Judith Dupre with 3 percent.

Are these Ft. Bend new and re-elected officials christians? Just like our USA nation is known as a christian nation! Christian officials should not be campaigning and tobe elected just for the money of public taxpayers! They need tobe elected for justice for all, prohibitting any illegal action of injustice by an elected official like Ft. Bend DA John Healey move against Mayor Roberts!

  3. viewpoint says:

1trueconservative; Yes, the state ethic web list has Burt Levine and Donald Backson(democratic club leader) listed as campaign contributers for Ronald Reynolds for the month of Febuary 2010.
Ft. Bend ‘ Focus magazine’ also, list Danny Nguten as developer in Shallow Creek Ranch, so is Clinton Wong(developer) for Friendswood Developing in east Ft. Bend! Thence both have been working together developing Shallow Creek Ranch in a polluted enviornment nearby the Blue Ridge landfill wich is effecting the publics health. Cinton Wong has always been a political campaingn contributer to Ft. Bend candidates and Brazoria county.
Now that Danny Nguyen has been elected in Missouri City, its looks clearly that Danny Nguyen will be expanding Cinton Wong wealth benefits for developing in Ft. Bend with Ft. Bend taxpayer dollars?

An Ron Reynolds will be helping his lawyer friends wealth, if he continues to support state injustice to continue locally in Ft. Bend and other counties.

Our community desperately needs to debride our wounds of developer controlled local government. Does anyone remember the TRCC, rogue practices of the homeowner association industry, and the mandatory binding arbitration clauses that make gang rape legal? These horrors are developer-controlled legislative practices.

The interests of the people will not be served while people like Ron Reynolds pretend to serve the people while serving the developers who funded his way into office. A quick look into Ron’s legal reputation is bad, a longer look gets worse, and his financial debt load makes him the perfect puppet for developer interests. Do not bow your head and close your eyes, or you will be prey!

I don’t normally make it a practice to respond to posts left on blogs. I respect others 1st amendment rights. However, patriot missive post deeply disturbs me. Our community does need healing and UNITY. I’m going to continue to work hard to improve the TEAM (together everyone achieves more) concept. For the record, I’ve never been disbarred and I won my election with 58% of the vote against a 12 year incumbent in spite of such negative smear swift boating campaigning against me.

The elections are OVER and it’s time to move our county forward! We need to focus on issues of our economy, schools and keeping our communities safe. If you think that you are another person can do a better job then please stop hiding behind a screen name and run for public office. It’s soo easy to criticize others when you’re playing arm-chair quarterback. Remember, we ALL sin and fall short of the glory. Again, I pray for healing and UNITY! God bless you!

    • southerncomfort says:

Mr. Reynolds, I wouldn’t refer to most of those in here as “arm-chair quarterbacks”. The ones I know are committed and dedicate volunteers in the community as well as leaders and get very involved contributing time, treasure and talent to causes important to many. Belittling them for truth telling isn’t very statesman like and continuing with the word-smithing isn’t either. Rather than revisit much of the facts in your history regarding an episode that ended only last year, I would agree it is time to move on. You do have an election coming up in November and you aren’t posting to neophyte voters/taxpayers now. Some of us know some of your closest colleagues and former friends as well as being aware of details too. So let’s not bait out others or play any politricks this evening.

Enjoy your evening and good luck in Nov nominee. I’m sure you will be “elect” after November but it is a bit premature.

  6. patriot missive says:

    Dear Ron Reynolds,

The flagrant lying campaign that you allowed certain members of your ring to run against your opponent was beyond belief. I am shocked that anyone could have believed such fabrications, but enough voters did to “win” you this position. From your finance reports and your debt load, it is clear whom you will be serving. For this reason it is even more obscene that you would “pray for healing and unity in your community” Did you mean “prey” on your unified and blind community? Unity is NOT what our community needs now. We need a candidate who will serve the public good. I will explore your libertarian opponent, Mr Grayson, and hope that he has the real low-down on your developer obligations, as well as the practices that led to your disbarment. THE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW.

  7. RonReynolds says:

In response to 1trueconservative, please be advised that this post is not about me. I was writing in spirit of moving forward and stopping with all the negative chatter that has been prevalent during the campaign. Whether you agree are not…majority rules. The community has spoken and that’s why elections matter. However, for the record, Municipal elections for school board and city council races are non-partisan. Therefore, I don’t look at the party affiliation of a candidate. I don’t look at the race nor gender of a candidate either. I support a candidate solely based on their qualifications and prior experience. I endorsed Mayor Owen and Danny Nguyen because of their service and record in the community. Despite, the negative attacks, the majority agreed! On another note Burt Levine is a personal friend that I have a great deal of respect for.

Finally, I’m blessed not to have a Republican opponent in the general election in November. As such, I’ve been deemed State Representative-Elect. I’ve already started working with elected officials on both sides of the isle, Superintendents and stakeholders to get up to speed on the needs of Fort Bend County during the next legislative session. I’m proud to say that I’ve been very well received and I’m looking forward to getting to work! I urge you to move forward and join with me in helping bring positive change to Fort Bend County.

    • 1trueconservative says:

I applaud you on a very carefully stated response. Certainly indicative of your attorney training but it really doesn’t address the questions. I would also have to say that anyone who has been close to any of these campaigns knows full well that they are not “non-partisan” races. I talked to several precinct chairs who made that very clear and this race was no exception. One was even admonished for finding strong evidence against one of the candidates and told to keep it under her shirt by the county chair (I won’t ID which party, not that it mattered in this instance). This candidate was telling democrats he is a democrat and republicans he is a republican. He actually has proof of both (pretty slick).

I agree it is time to move on but always from a basis of fact and truth, not obfuscation or misdirection.

Why didn’t you directly answer the questions?

So it is correct to assume you do have an opponent in November therefore the “representative-elect” is a false claim? Who “deemed” you this, if it isn’t factually correct?

I do wish you luck in bringing positive change to fort bend county and want you to know that many groups will be keeping a close eye as you work hard for us the taxpayers and voters. Hopefully those that contributed and continue to give to your campaign war chest (see below) will respect that you work for the people first and foremost.

Thank you for your time and we will be rooting for you. We do however disagree strongly on the paid political consultant you call friend and his tactics that we have witnessed many times first hand.

      Take care!

Ft. Bend DA John Healey has expands county injustice, thence misleadership effecting Ft. Bend courts misconducts to continue benefitting lawyers salaries of Ron Reynolds(attor.), and other lawyers. Costing taxpayers higher tax fees.

  9. precinctchair says:

    Ron Reynolds,

You are not correct on your assertions. The political process enables one to do what is required to appeal to the voters while maintaining the ability to shed light on the opponent. I do believe you are fully repented (like me and millions of others) for past transgressions but does exposure to the truth connotes attack…short answer NO!

Although the candidates (not opposition) may have illuminated some of Danny’s past issues and that the mayor-elect wife’s believes that my America is a man’s world in the 21st century, that doesn’t constitute attacks. We know that many of the black elected officials as well as pastors are besieged by trying to look after special interests that only seek to malign, obstruct, and manipulate the electoral process. Now…is that an attack…short answer NO! People have a tendency of doing what works best for them albeit selfish.

If and only when the macro African American community gets together then we will see our group progress beyond the mighty few to a cadre of servant-leaders whose aim is to produce change that will impact not only our legislative district but also the world. However, when division runs rampant and is PARAMOUNT then I guess the other groups will continue buy their movie tickets, purchase their popcorn, candy, and soft drinks and enjoy the show.

PS – Where is the NAACP when you really need them? I say, get with Carolyn Scantlebury – HOUSTON NAACP President so that we can glean from them how an organization works to unite the front! I heard this on Saturday…our Freedom was not predicated on rest but UNREST and now is no time for rest. Let’s get to work everyone…

    • 1trueconservative says:

I agree with you prectchair. American politics and democracy should never give in to the message of passive acceptance. Traditionally Americans have always questioned those in power and when needed challenged them.

I urge you to continue to do so! The numbers in that race actually showed continued improvement and you all will reach that “tipping point” soon (hopefully before the budget crisis worsens). Hopefully you will do it at the grass-roots level involving most who live and work in that community and not the special interests who have directed from above and at a distance for decades. You all have more elections coming up and now is no time to be silent as suggested.

      Good luck!

  10. RonReynolds says:

Now that the elections are over I pray that the community can start the healing process. We need to bring the UNITY back in COMMUNITY. It appears that the elections continue to get dirtier and more divisive than ever. I’m proud that none of the winners chose to run a smear campaign against their opponents. It’s my opinion that the majority of our community is sick and tired of the negative campaigning and also the partisan bickering. The same people who ran a negative campaign against me, John Healey, Allen Owen, Jerry Wyatt and Danny Nguyen all share one thing in common, they lost. I’m proud to live in a community that is diverse and has elected officials that represent the diversity of the community. I’m proud to have a great relationship with both Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives. We ALL have to work together in order to achieve the very best for our communities. May God bless each of our elected officials to make the best decision for their constituents!

    • 1trueconservative says:

Very good points on community. Didn’t 53% of the voters vote against Mr. Healey in the primary? These aren’t small blocks of disaffected isolates. Here are some questions you didn’t answer earlier,

As a democratic leader Mr. Reynolds, who is a regular reader of this site, could you please respond as to why you endorsed a straight ticket of republicans backed by the Houston development community over Ford (D) & Gary (D)?

I would like to know if Mr. Levine is correct. Are you representative-elect or are you on the ballot for November? Who are you running against? Why is Mr. Levine claiming you are “elect”. Aren’t you the nominee for the democratic party and in fact not “elect” yet? Is Mr. Levine one of your hired campaign consultants?

Good luck on your campaign though.

I pray that this council and mayor can help me. I am a 28 year old who is in a wheel chair and am legally blind.. I cannot travel outside because of the crumbling sidewalks that will not allow my chair to maneuver over them. Since I am also legally blind, I dont want to go into the street.. I have been held prisoner in my home for over 5 years and do not see my situation changing.

Missouri City mayor Owens has fail to provide Sienna Point with public water or sewer for fire security and safety! Thence we need end all future MUD’s, that includes mud taxes! These mud districts
are feeding HOA funds an increasing home foreclosures thats effeting the USA economy! No mud taxes leas to less stress for property owners an more economy!.

Who will the same bipartisn endorsers that supported Missouri City elected officials win, thense to endorse for Ft. Bend Co. in November 2010?

What’s odd view is a post on a “d-club” site claiming Nguyen is a democrat when they know full well he received a special district selection as a gop state delegate after voting most of his life as a democrat.

Pretty slick huh. I guess if you just tell everyone what they want to hear with 4 or 5 hired political consultants at your side and a mountain of special interest funding, you can get away with anything. His campaign treasurer is the gop exe. committee treasurer who is also an developer appointed HOA board member.

All these linkages with the “d-club” leadership, the developers and the gop executive committee is almost interesting. Well at least 45%+ of the population that didn’t vote for him weren’t fooled.

“…And also in Missouri City we had the 4-way race for Council-At-Large Position 2, in which Democrat Danny Nguyen won (OK, it’s funnier if you pronounce his last name correctly). For the past few years Nguyen has been…”

        http://halfempth.blogspot.com/

I’ve saved the original incase they adjust it later. Someone really should go confront Nguyen and Owen over these sleezy backroom deals and the continued deceptions for the media (at least those that have maintained their objectivity).

Re-electing Missiouri City incumbentsI(corperate) by missleading Ft. Bend voters, thence too continues to expand injustice in Ft. Bend County!

  16. Burt Levine says:

Mayor Allen Owen, Mayor Pro-Tem Jerry Wyatt and at large Council Member-elect Danny Nguyen won huge landslide victories Saturday as did Jim Rice and Jim Babb for Fort Bend ISD Trustee. Yes, w/ Fort Bend DA John Healey, Rep-elect Ron Reynolds and Fort Bend Constables Ruben Davis and Troy Nehls at my side every step I worked steadfastly to confirm again that in AMERICA elections do have real consquence for our communities!!!

    • bladerunner says:

Mr. Levine, I’m not sure why you keep calling Mr. Reynolds representative-elect. He is on the ballot for the November election and apparently has an opponent. More than likely he will win given the dynamics of the race but shouldn’t you be more careful with your “facts”?

      “Rep-elect Ron Reynolds..”
