Fort Bend County elected officials and representatives from the Houston – Galveston Area Council and Fort Bend Transit will officially kickoff the new Fort Bend County Express Park & Ride Service at 10 a.m. June 28 at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds, 4310 Highway 36 S. in Rosenberg.
The Fort Bend County Express will serve residents traveling to the Texas Medical Center including stops at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center with service in the morning, midday and afternoon.
The Fort Bend County Express has Park and Ride centers in Sugar Land and Rosenberg with destinations to the Texas Medical Center. Passengers can access the service at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg, the University of Houston Sugar Land Campus, and at the First Colony Mall AMC Theatre parking lot. Schedules are available on the Fort Bend County website.
“This convenient Park and Ride service will undoubtedly benefit employees of the Medical Center, veterans and others seeking medical treatment by allowing them to park their cars in a location close to their home, and then transporting them to a drop off point convenient to the entrance,” said County Judge Bob Hebert. “This is the perfect way to avoid the hassles of parking and congestion.”
Hebert, Precinct 1 Commissioner Richard Morrison, Precinct 4 Commissioner James Patterson, Rosenberg Mayor Joe Gurecky, and representatives from Fort Bend Transit and the Houston-Galveston Area Council will be present for the opening.
