A man posing as a police officer and stealing credit cards from unsuspecting victims struck again in Sugar Land last night, this time at the 24 Hour Fitness ar 14111 Southwest Freeway.
Police were called to the 24 Hour Fitness around 7:54 p.m. after the man apparently stole more than one credit card.
The suspect displays a gold badge, identifies himself as a police officer, and says he is conducting an investigation. He tells the victims that he needs to examine the content of their wallets, and removes credit cards while the victim is distracted. He has used the credit cards to make purchases at local stores.
He is described as a heavy-set black man with a fair complexion and a large stomach. He is 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, and weighs 210 to 225 pounds.
Police said earlier this week that the suspect was targeting Middle Eastern and Asian victims.
Previous thefts by the imposter include one at 12:30 a.m. July 29 at Starbucks, 16098 City Walk; 1:30 p.m. July 30 at Bally’s Total Fitness, 13444 Southwest Freeway and 9 p.m. July 31 n the Lake Point parking lot, 15800 Southwest Freeway.
