12 MoCity Restaurants Earn ‘Clean Restaurant Award’

Twelve Missouri City restaurants that were inspected in the last six months have been recognized for earning the “Clean Restaurant Award”. The businesses were saluted by City Council for receiving high scores during routine inspections by the city’s health inspector. Each one scored a 95 or above and had no critical violations.

“The food handler is the most important criteria to look at when conducting an inspection, in addition to a clean restaurant, ” said Missouri City Health Inspector Twala Bezue. “Floors, walls and ceilings will not generally make you sick, but the person handling your food can. The second thing is the general cleanliness of the restaurant and the sanitization practices.”

When conducting inspections, Bezue also checks to make sure that food is kept at the proper temperature at all times in the preparation process.

Additionally, restaurants are allowed an owner-initiated inspection once a year that gives them a chance to improve their score. The restaurant owner can request and must pay for that inspection.

Not all city restaurants were inspected during the last six months. Another round of inspections will take place during the next six months.

A complete list of “Restaurant Scores” can be found on the city’s website, www.missouricitytx.gov, under “Quick Links” on the homepage. The list is updated weekly.

I wonder if any of the participants in the CRA are still giving free food to the city council members?
