Continental Poly Bags To Expand In Sugar Land

Sugar Land City Council has approved a tax abatement agreement with Continental Poly Bags, Inc. and Lyant Properties, LLC.

The agreement will provide a tax abatement on new real property improvements for a planned 60,000-square-foot facility, expanding Continental Poly Bags’ Sugar Land operations. The new facility will add more than $2.5 million in real property investment, $750,000 in inventory value and 30 jobs to the community, according to city officials.

“We are thrilled to continue our successful partnership with the City of Sugar Land,” said George Zhang, president of Continental Poly Bags, Inc. “Our business continues to thrive within the City, and we look forward to embarking on the expansion of our operations within the Sugar Land Business Park.”

Continental Poly Bags is an existing Sugar Land business that manufactures packaging products for commercial and consumer use.

The company moved to the Sugar Land Business Park in 2002 and currently operates out of a 73,000-square-foot facility located on Industrial Boulevard.

The company plans to expand their Sugar Land operations with the construction of a 60,000-square-foot office/warehouse facility at a separate 7.5-acre site near the northeast corner of Gillingham Lane and Jess Pirtle Boulevard.  The new facility would house all warehousing and distribution operations, allowing the company to expand the manufacturing operations at the Industrial Boulevard facility.
