Sugar Land Announces Storm Debris Removal Plan

The severe weather experienced on Monday evening has created a substantial amount of storm debris throughout Sugar Land.    City staff surveyed the area and it appears neighborhoods south of U.S. 59 experienced the most damage.  During the next 10 days, the city will work with its solid waste contractor to collect the storm debris.

The city’s solid waste contractor will collect debris on regular collection days and provide special green waste collections on Wednesday, Aug. 25 and Wednesday, Sept. 1.

The green waste collection will utilize special equipment to collect heavy items, such as tree stumps and large limbs.  The green waste collected on Wednesdays will be taken to the composting facility and recycled into mulch or compost.

Residents should place debris on the curb for collection on regular service days or on Wednesday, and are encouraged to cut brush and tree limbs to a length of 4 feet, if possible.
