Flash Flood Warning Issued Due To Line Of Thunderstorms Headed Towards Fort Bend County

The National Weather Service’s Doppler Radar has indicated that flash flooding is likely due to thunderstorms along a line extending from Coastal Matagorda North into Southern Fort Bend County and Northwestern Brazoria County.

A flash flood warning for Fort Bend County has been issued until 5:45 p.m. Tuesday. A flash flood watch is in effect until 7 a.m. tomorrow.

As moisture and unstable air continues to track over the Fort Bend area as a result of Tropical Storm Hermine, a tornado watch for the county has been extended until 8 p.m. tonight.

Today’s forecast calls for periods of rain with a few thundershowers throughout the day. The chance for rain is 80 percent and 1 – 3 inches of rain could be possible across the area. Locally heavier rainfall is also possible in some areas.

The rain will continue through Wednesday.

The storms are the result of tropical moisture and unstable air being pushed across much of Texas as a result of Tropical Storm Hermine.

Hermine made landfall Sunday evening in extreme northern Mexico. Its remnants area expected to continue tracking north-northwest, brining rainfall to much of the state over the next few days.
