‘Fields Of Faith’ Event Planned For Christian Youth

Students throughout Fort Bend County will gather on the football field at Fort Bend Baptist Academy, joining thousands of other youth on athletic fields all across America at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 to share their Christian faith with fellow students during the seventh annual Fields of Faith event.

Fields of Faith is a program of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  This rapidly growing, interdenominational outreach event will be held at more than 400 locations throughout the nation on this same date.

Since the beginning of Fields of Faith in 2004, more than 365,000 students have joined the movement.  In 2009 alone, more than 125,000 students gathered on 446 fields across 38 states to participate in the event.  Last year’s series of events saw 3,248 students make first-time faith commitments to follow Jesus Christ and 8,852 committed to reading the Bible daily.

“The impact of Fields of Faith has been incredible in just these past few years,” said Les Steckel, FCA president and former veteran NFL coach.  “It’s all about young people in these communities coming together on their school’s athletic field and challenging each other to go back to the fundamentals of reading God’s Word and coming to faith in Jesus Christ.”

In addition to students challenging students and peers challenging peers, this area wide Fields of Faith will feature the praise and worship band, Enddesire from Crossbridge Church, and special platform speaker, Derrick Moore, former NFL running back and current football team Chaplain at Georgia Tech.
