Fisher-Price Recalls Millions Of Products Due To Several Reported Injuries

The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Fisher-Price recently announced the voluntary recall of 7 million Fisher-Price Trikes and Tough Trikes, following several reports of injuries.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Fisher-Price recently announced the voluntary recall of 7 million Fisher-Price Trikes and Tough Trikes, following several reports of injuries.

The CPSC and Fisher-Price said they are aware of 10 incidents that resulted in injury. Six of the incidents required medical attention after girls, ages 2 to 3, fell against or on the protruding disc-shaped and D-shaped pretend key.

“A child can strike, sit or fall on the protruding plastic ignition key resulting in serious injury, including genital bleeding,” according to a report issued by the CPSC.

The recall involves Fisher-Price Trikes and Tough Trikes toddler tricycles that have either a disc-shaped or D-shaped pretend key.

The pretend keys are located about 3 inches in front of the seat and protrude at least 5/8 inches above the trike’s body.

The trikes have been sold nationwide, including in the Fort Bend area.

The CPSC recommends that consumers should place the trikes out of the reach of children and contact Fisher-Price for a free replacement key.

The CPSC and Fisher-Price also recalled 950,000 Healthy Care, Easy Clean and Close to Me High Chairs.

The CPSC and Fisher-Price are aware of 14 incidents, including seven reports of children requiring stitches and one tooth injury.

Children can fall against the pegs on the rear legs of the high chair that are used for tray storage.

The CPSC recommends that consumers contact Fisher-Price for a free repair kit and instructions.

About 100,000 Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Stand ‘n Play Rampway’s have also been recalled.

The wheels on the purple and green cars can come off, causing a choking hazard. Fisher-Price has received two reports, but no injuries.

Consumers should contact Fisher-Price for free replacement cars.

The last items included in the recall are 2.8 million Baby Playzone Crawl & Cruise Playgound, Baby Playzone Crawl & Slide Arcade, Baby Gymnastics Play Wall, Ocean Wonders Kick & Crawl Aquarium, 1-2-3 Tetherball, Bat & Score Goal.

Fisher-Price is aware of 46 incidents where the valve of the inflatable ball came off and 14 incidents where a valve was found in a child’s mouth.

The CPSC recommends consumers remove the inflatable ball from the products and contact Fisher-Price for a free replacement kit.

A toll-free number is available for Fisher-Price customers who want more information. The number is 800-432-5437 and is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
