Fort Bend Officials Celebrate Opening Of North County Annex Facility

Fort Bend County officials joined with residents from throughout the northern part of the county Saturday to celebrate the grand opening of the long-awaited Fort Bend County North Annex.

COUNTY ANNEX – The new Fort Bend County North Annex is open for business. It is located at 22333 Grand Corner on the northeast corner of the Westpark Toll Road and The Grand Parkway, just south of Grand Lakes and Cinco Ranch.

The new facility houses a host of county services, including the office of Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyers.

Also housed in the new facility is the office and courtroom of Justice of the Peace Ken Cannata, branch offices of Tax Assessor-Collector Patsy Schultz and County Clerk Dianne Wilson and substations for the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and the Precinct 3 Constable’s Office.

Meyers, Cannata and Schultz, along with County Judge Bob Hebert, Sheriff Milton Wright, Constable Rob Cook, County Treasurer Jeff Council and others were on hand for the grand opening. Meyers gave personally-guided tours of his office, which includes a meeting room that will be available to the public.

“This will be made available to the community for meetings,” Meyers said. “This is a public facility and we want to public to have every chance to make full use of it.”

Meyers also noted much of the large conference table was built with in-house talent.

“The base of the conference table was built by personnel in our road and bridge department, as was a display case in my office,” he said. “They did a wonderful job and saved taxpayers money at the same time.”

Meyers also moved his old desk and various office furnishings to the new location to save money. The artwork decorating the office suite was donated by Meyers or from ARTreach.

“I didn’t spend much of the taxpayers’ money on this office,” he said. “We saved wherever we could.”

The grand opening event also included free hot dogs and drinks, a “bounce house” and slide for children, face painting, a clown making balloon animals and live music from The Texas Trio, the McMeans Junior High Choir and the Simonton Community Church Choir.

Local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Willow Fork Fire Department also took part in the festivities.

The facility opened for business yesterday.

It is located at 22333 Grand Corner on the northeast corner of the Westpark Toll Road and The Grand Parkway, just south of Grand Lakes and Cinco Ranch.
