Rosenberg’s Mayor Joe Gurecky served as this year’s March for Meals Honorary Chairman. Gurecky has been delivering meals to local Rosenberg seniors as part of the March for Meals campaign with Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels since 2006.
This year, 25 elected officials, community leaders and Fort Bend Seniors representatives from Fort Bend County and surrounding cities, including Rosenberg, Richmond, Village of Pleak, and Kendleton, signed up to serve our seniors. Gurecky, Margie Krenek of Village of Pleak, and Darryl Humphrey of Kendleton, as well as County Commissioners James Patterson (Pct. 4) and Richard Morrison (Pct. 1), County Clerk Dianne Wilson, County Treasurer Jeff Council, and Robert Quarles from the office of US Rep. Pete Olson, Dist 22, were among the esteemed meal delivery team for March 24. The March for Meals/Mayors for Meals volunteers delivered more than 55 meals on behalf of Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels.
“We raised awareness and are enjoying a renewed interest in our organization and its mission,” said Manuela Arroyos, CEO. “As always, we have received a positive response from our community, which makes all the work that goes into this public awareness campaign worth the effort,” Arroyos continued. “The success of Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels campaign, in addition to the $1,500 grant from MOWAA, will fuel momentum for an even more successful campaign next year.”
