Top Fort Bend Toll Road Violator Arrested, Owes More Than $6,000

Fort Bend County’s top toll violator has been taken into custody thanks to quick work by a Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable.

TOP TOLL VIOLATOR – Jeanetta Marie McNeal, 32, of Fresno was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail after being arrested as the county’s top toll violator.

Jeanetta Marie McNeal, 32, of Fresno was arrested after being stopped on the Fort Bend Parkway near FM 2234 for failing to pay a toll.

When Deputy Ben Melendez investigated further, he determined that McNeal was wanted as Fort Bend County’s top toll road violator and owed the county $3,582 in unpaid tolls. In addition, she owed Harris County an additional $2,492 in unpaid tolls.

McNeal was arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

Precinct 4 Constable Troy Nehls said his deputies were constantly looking for toll violators.

“Toll roads are not a free ride. My deputies aggressively seek out those that fail to pay the required tolls,” Nehls said. “If you habitually abuse our system, you will eventually be caught and arrested.”

We have many federal water violator that are affecting th Brazos
River by HOA MUDs. But the TCEQ commission is set an choose by Gov. Perry to protect large developers.

  3. viewpoint says:

The elected official(DA) protect campaign contributors against the law of guilty, but the take advantage of small individuals who are noncontributors for campaign elections because they an’t afford. If Local officials really want to hold violators of law accountable?
Thence, official must take adventage to hold accountable of the wealthy corprate violators of state(TCEQ & EPA) permit laws, thats effect our enviornment also! We have yet to see or read another story about holding guilty, another large corprate violator, just lik BP oil spill thats where the money is!

SLfortbender; Yes, this woman wanted to get a taste of her tax dollars
that she an we taxpayers have already invested, her income is limitted, that she couldn’t afford to pay again?

Good point view. I’m tired of helping pay for these roads to nowhere for the few friends of government. The ones that are especially upsetting is when they toll an already existing highway that we’ve paid for like I-10, 288 and the renamed I-69 corridor which is coming right through our neck of the woods. “Dasummer” uses the same tired rhetoric defending these projects we always here claiming we aren’t paying for them but we know better. The county kicks in funds from a toll road account which is easy to find through a TPIA request. When the operations budget doesn’t balance, we get hit with the over-runs.

Should the individual in the story above pay her fines? Of course, but we need to stop building these monstrosities for the few politically well connected companies.

Wow, kudos to Deputy Melendez, this is honorable to know! Yes, rcocheu, you have the math down, and it doesn’t look pretty.

I’m sure we’ll see Quanell on the news in the next day or so, accusing Fort Bend County of running a racist toll road.

There are some things in life that are free, but choices will always come with consequences. Those consequences can be good or bad.

Her decision to drive on a toll road and not pay tolls gave her the consequence of jail. She did not have to drive on the toll road. She could have taken another route. She made the choice to take something and not pay for it and she now faces the consequences of her decision.

I give money to my church to help pay for the building, staff salaries, and general maintenance of the property, but that doesn’t mean that I can walk into the church, take the pretty statue of Jesus from the alter and put it in my house.

Nothing if free, if we are paying each one or multiple kinds of taxes(gas, property, sale or income) to drive an travel to work!

Realizing it is $1.25 one way on the Toll Road that means she racked up over 2,800 trips for free. Assume she just traveled 2 times per day (typical commute to and from work) means she traveled 1,432 days for free or roughly 3-1/2 years. throw her jail, make her pay the tolls and interest. Toll Road discussion is not proper in this case. She knowingly took a toll road without paying for 3-1/2 years. Throw the book at her.

  11. viewpoint says:

Something for nothing? Who paid for these construction toll road cost an development, yes public taxpayer funds did once already?

    • dasumner says:

Wrong! The construction of the toll road was paid for by bonds sold to investors. The investors get paid back with money collected from the tolls.

      • NoelPinnock says:

Not quite…the get paid back on an APR (%) schedule in increments of 5…10…15 years. These bonds are sold to corporate or individual investors in multiples of 5K and the yield is not that great, especially with the economic in fluctuation. The great news for investors who want to sit on some capital and yield more interest than a CD.

    • SLfortbender says:

Again, this is NOT the place for the discussion on the purpose and funding of toll roads. Yes, she got SOMETHING for NOTHING!

      • NoelPinnock says:

        Again SLfortbender,

This is a discussion board and nothing is off limit. Some just need to know more about a topic…no one knows it all…this is healthly for the thread.

        • SLfortbender says:

I disagree. I despise toll roads and only use them when absolutely necessary. However, this is about a scofflaw who’s either arrogant or ignorant enough to smile for her mug shot. The last two smiling mug shots I recall are the 19-year-old illegal immigrant murderer in Pearland and Tom DeLay. We know how THAT worked out for the Hammer and how’s it’s probably going to work out for the Illegal.

  12. MoCity says:

A crime is a crime is a crime is a crime. She broke the law, wanted something for nothing, and is now sitting in jail. AND is surprisingly happy about it, judging by her mug shot.

  13. viewpoint says:

Toll roads effecting justice and affecting Freeways of Freedom to travel in life!

    • SLfortbender says:

Oh please, oh victimized one! If you don’t like the toll roads, don’t use them! This is NOT a story about the validity of toll road funding – even though I may agree with you. Are you trying to tell us that this scofflaw was a one-woman protest on toll road fees?
