Residents will be able to drop off their household hazardous materials and electronics free of charge. Registrations will be accepted for vendor booths beginning Jan. 25, and booths can be rented for $15 each through Feb. 28.

For residents interested in disposing of other recyclables during the holiday season, the city’s Recycling Center, located at 1919 Scanlin Rd., accepts paper, plastic containers and aluminum and tin cans.

Starting at the end of the business day on Jan. 7, the center will be closed to undergo upgrades that will enable residents to access bins more easily and improve the look and function of the facility. The facility will reopen in mid- to late-March and the upgrades will be funded through a grant from the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments.
