Benefit Fund Set Up For Critically Injured Fort Bend Deputy

A benefit fund has been established for Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputy John Norsworthy who was seriously injured in a car accident while responding to a call for backup Monday.

Those interested in contributing to the benefit fund can drop off donations at any area Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union. Donations can also be mailed to John Norsworthy Fund (Account # 0358570300), c/o Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, 4911 Mustang Ave., Rosenberg, TX  77471 or by calling 281-342-8245.

The accident occurred around 7 p.m. Monday at FM 762 at Benton Road. According to reports from the scene, Norsworthy was trapped beneath his overturned patrol cars. Richmond firefighters used inflatable rescue bags to lift the car off the deputy

Norsworthy was flighted to Memorial Hermann in the Medical Center, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Norsworthy, who is married with an 11-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son has undergone several emergency surgeries for severe internal bleeding using well over 100 units of blood.   According to Sheriff’s Office representatives, doctors believe they have stopped all internal bleeding and will begin the next of many medical obstacles.  

The Fort Bend County Deputy Sheriff’s Association as well as the Texas Municipal Police Association has provided the family with some immediate assistance to help with daily expenses such as parking, food, and hotel.

In addition to the immediate assistance this benefit fund has been established by the efforts of the Fort Bend County Deputy Sheriff’s Association www.fbcdsa.org  with all proceeds benefiting Norsworthy’s family in an effort to alleviate the rapidly escalating medical expenses associated with his long term recovery.
