Dulles Middle School recently hosted the school’s 10th Annual Career Day. The event, “Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Professionals,” hosted more than 30 guest speakers addressing approximately 120 students.

GE Healthcare partnered with Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land and provided a mobile X-ray machine on site at Dulles Middle School’s 10th Annual Career Day.
Speakers included a police officer from the Missouri City Police Department, a nurse, television producers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers and General Electric’s Healthcare division featured an X-ray field service engineer.
Each speaker presented the featured career by introducing the name of his company and describing his or her job function. Speakers focused on the level of education required for the chosen career path and any special training required for the job. Recommendations were given on which high school courses, activities, and/or volunteer efforts students should pursue in order to help prepare them for the highlighted career.

“This career day was exciting,” said parent Anthony Maroulis. “The students were dressed in business casual, took notes and asked great questions. It is important that parents participate in these events so that careers begin after the students graduate high school and thereby leading them to a more productive future. “

This is a great story and a very interesting field. I have heard that Dulles has great participation when it comes to Career day. Hats off to the staff at DMS and thanks General Electric and Methodist!
