A new $8 million corporate taxilane project on 10 acres at Sugar Land Regional Airport is intended to accommodate new corporate tenants.
The project is being funded through a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division – Sugar Land’s share is approximately $1 million. Completion is expected this fall.
Seven lease sites for corporate aviation departments are being pre-leased, allowing time for potential tenants to develop plans for new hangars.
“There is a growing demand from the business community in the greater Houston area for this type of upscale development,” said Director of Aviation Phillip W. Savko. “Future hangars will meet design standards that are consistent with the quality development and services that continue to attract corporations to Sugar Land Regional Airport.”
The airport’s fixed based operator, GlobalSelect, has been awarded Aviation International News’ “#1 FBO in the Americas”
the past two years. The survey is completed by pilots and other corporate aviation experts who rate facilities in categories such as pilot amenities and services, line service, passenger amenities and facilities.

FCC Resident, nothing wrong with apartments if they are taxed fairly and don’t get special deals for water and sewer and have specific land covenants that would keep the quality up. And, market rate for these units will make it too expensive for many of the problems you are worried about to exist.
Well…you put the airport north of most of city’s residential development and you have a constant southerly wind. Anyone that bought south of the airport should have known better. I say the airport is better than the prison but I am just a little pro-business every now and then.
Whats issues are next on our local agendas, for officials approval, an taxpayers ready to pay the cost?
I wonder if NT, Telfair and Chelsea Harbor know of the plans of SL city council to continue expansion of this airport north and south as well as east to west. Wake-up folks!
Sugarlander–there are plenty of high density apartments coming to Telfair near 59 and many more planned in SL by our developer friendly (school unfriendly) council members and county commissioners. As long as they are taking those monies from the firms pushing these projects they will sit on their hands and approve everything.
People should not complain about the noise because they damn well knew there was an airport there when they bought their house. Besides it’s not like the airport is open 24 hours a day with jumbo jets coming and going. People are really going to get upset when the airport expands once the prison is gone.
Red zone(GOP) plans of SL airport to expand louder air noice, besides
traffic niose controled by conrete walls. Will there be concrete airwall
over your house, to control airplane noice?
Will it be getting even more loud in Telfair now, directly under the flight path?
New corporate taxilane in exchange for more new airplane noise!
At least it’s not apartments.
And hopefully with more air traffic in the area, new apartment development will cease! Too many already!
