The Fort Bend Independent School District is conducting three Town Hall Meetings for community members to learn more about the state budget cuts and the potential impact the cuts could have on FBISD.
The actual impact of the state’s budget shortfall will not be known until the Legislature adopts a state budget, which is not expected until this summer. Meanwhile, the district must proceed with planning the district budget for next school year with the presumption that it may have to be adjusted after the state adopts its budget. For detailed budget information, visit the district website at fortbendisd.com and open “2011 Budget Challenges.”
The Budget Town Hall meetings will present an overview of all the issues under consideration, and provide an opportunity to address resident comments and questions. All meetings will take place from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the cafeterias of the campuses listed below.

Its time for future leaders to be invited an share there plans or ideas for being elected this year?
I love these “community education” moments sponsored by the superintendent (and his comm office supported by our taxes) to continue the finger pointing at the state. What readers need to remember is that this districts budget problems began a year after the current ceo took over with his record bond election (we’re still paying the debt service on that one). He has raised our property taxes 3 consecutive years in a row with a 4th coming. He has been here going on 6 years and has run budget deficits all but the first year he came. According to the state comptrollers office, we are spending 60% more on schools over the last decade, not less.

Further, Mr. Jenney, has moved us into the top ten percent of school districts in Texas for long-term debt while proposing further record bond debt elections, increased spending projects and RIFing hundreds of classroom teachers. This is not good leadership and demands a change in the coming elections. Take his “rubber stamp” board away, and you can stop this poor financial record. Yes IMO, the state budget short-fall does not help the situation but neither does buying into the hype being sold by this deception oriented public communications machine with classrooms attached.
It’s time to say good bye to this guy and cut our losses. Do we really need to extend this persons contract for such a performance. He’s making more than many governors and over 100k more than the last supt.
It’s time to say so long Tim.
