Search Called Off For Missing 73-year-old Man

With one last effort from Equi-Search on Saturday, Missouri City police have called off the search for a 73-year-old man who went missing after running out of gas in Lake Shore Harbor.

Washington

Missouri city police detectives and Equi-Search volunteers have searched for the man for five days.

Jessie James Washington was traveling with his wife and two young grandchildren from Huntsville back to his home in Marshall on Jan. 23. Around 9 p.m. the family became lost and ran out of fuel in Lake Shore Harbor, located in the southern portion of Missouri City near the Fresno and Fort Bend County ETJ. Shortly after running out of gas, Washington walked away from their vehicle to find fuel. He has not been seen since.

According to family members, Washington is diabetic and takes medication for high blood pressure. Detectives said it is possible that Washington is in a “confused state” due to his diabetes, and could be somewhere in Houston, possibly among the homeless population, after hitching a ride on Hwy. 6.

Calls to homeless shelters have yielded no results, and neither have several tips received by police.

Equi-Search volunteers used four wheelers to search wooded areas and sonars to search detention ponds in the area, but according to Detective Russell Terry, there is “no evidence” that Washington is still in the area

Washington is described as a black man, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 170 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes wearing a blue and brown stripped shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information on his wherabouts should call the Missouri City Police Department at 281-403-8700.
