Sugar Land author Rodney Walther will sign copies of his book at the opening day ceremony for First Colony Little League March 26, and will donate $5 of every book sale to the league’s Challenger Division. The Challenger Division pairs special needs players with “buddies” who help them play baseball.
“Baseball is a wonderful sport,” said Walther, “and I want to support this great game that teaches our kids strong values. Both WULL (West U. Little League) and FCLL have developed a Challenger division, a program of Little League International that allows children with physical and/or mental differences to play baseball, just like every kid dreams of doing. It’s a great joy and honor to donate to these programs.”
Walther’s book, “Broken Laces,” is set is the Sugar Land area and is the story of Jack “The Cannon” Kennedy, a suburban workaholic who “doesn’t understand the importance of family until he faces life as a single parent.”
