Fort Bend Gas Prices Up Another 3.4 Cents, Now Averaging $2.98 Per Gallon

Gasoline prices continue to climb in the Fort Bend area, this week falling just short of the $3 per gallon mark.

UP AGAIN – Gas prices jumped another 3.4 cents last week to an average of $2.98 per gallon for unleaded regular.

Average retail gas prices jumped 3.4 cents per gallon in the past week, reaching an average of $2.98 yesterday.

Nationally, prices are even higher. Last week, the national average increased 4.1 cents per gallon to $3.16, according to gasoline price website HoustonGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Fort Bend during the past week, prices yesterday were 54.7 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 4.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has increased 6.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 51.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

    And it will continue to go up most likely.

    With these developments, is it really wise of Sugar Land to continue sprawling way out past the Brazos River, further and further away from central Sugar Land, Houston, and any employment centers? Why not instead concentrate on development and expansion that could be right next door; i.e. the lands not yet in Sugar Land ETJ that are west of the airport?
