A planned water system interconnect project between the municipal utility district that serves Weston Lakes and water company Aqua Texas has been scrapped despite a significant investment in time and money on the part of the MUD.

WATER PROJECT SCRAPPED – MUD 81 President Bill DuBois briefs Weston Lakes City Council about the cancellation of a water interconnect project between the MUD and water company Aqua Texas.
MUD 81 President Bill DuBois informed the Weston Lakes City Council of the development during Tuesday’s city council meeting.
DuBois said the MUD had invested “a good deal of time and money” in developing an agreement with Aqua Texas only to have the water company to call a last-minute halt to the project.
DuBois said Aqua Texas had initially approached MUD 81, requesting a water interconnect so the company could serve the Riverwood development. The MUD agreed in principle and the two held a series of meetings to craft an agreement.
“We talked about an interconnect and went away thinking we knew what had to be done,” DuBois told the council.
The MUD forwarded the agreed-upon contract to Aqua Texas. After a period of time, the company replied with a cryptic e-mail to the MUD district’s law firm saying “at this time, we will not be needing this agreement.”
DuBois said the utility district was surprised with the unexpected turn of events and asked for an explanation. The company replied that it had realized an existing storage facility “was not being used to its full potential” and the interconnect would not be needed.
“We were ready to do it and we had an agreement, but they now believe it’s not necessary,” DuBois said.
DuBois also said the door was still open if Riverwood residents still need the water, but expressed concern over the time and money the MUD spent in developing an agreement that was not used.
“We’ve done all we can; now it’s up to Aqua Texas and Riverwood,” he said.
Weston Lakes Mayor Mary Rose Zdunkewicz thanked the MUD for its efforts and for “trying to be a good neighbor.”
No one from Aqua Texas was present for the meeting.

Aqua Texas bad move to turn its back against MUD 81, thats the same move many elected officials are taking against taxpayers. We middle class are not happy able, either.
